Avon signs deal to bring AI into its supply chain

Avon International has partnered with software firm Blue Yonder to bring artificial intelligence (AI) into its supply chain.

The cosmetics company is using the firm’s AI to set up an “end to end next generation supply chain” to streamline its operations, surpass forecast accuracy and improve its planner efficiency.

Blue Yonder claimed it will also widen Avon’s omnichannel capabilities, improve its service levels and optimise cash flow.

The collaboration comes as the beauty brand has been working to optimise its manufacturing and distribution processes across Europe and Asia Pacific by creating a “planning hub” for its centralised demand and supply planning.

Avon International COO Maciej Kaniowski said: “Avon International is committed to transforming itself to meet the needs of its customers, representatives and partners while staying true to its business model and values.

“To support this global transformation across all channels, Avon International recognised the need for a more integrated approach to demand planning.”

“With Blue Yonder’s supply chain solutions, powered by leading-edge AI and ML capabilities, Avon International will be empowered to meet the changing needs of its customers, representatives, and partners in a profitable and sustainable way.”

The tie-up comes as the beauty brand expands into bricks and mortar, opening its first physical stores in the UK late last year. It also expanded its tie-up with Superdrug to its entire store estate last year.
