Amazon offers 50% off Prime for 18–22-year-olds

Amazon is offering discounted Prime memberships to customers aged between 18 and 22.

Younger customers can now join the online giant’s membership scheme for half the price at £4.49 a month, or £47.49 a year, for access to fast and free delivery, exclusive deals, events, savings, as well as its video and music streaming platforms.

Members will have access to free food delivery options on both Deliveroo and HelloFresh, discounted tickets at Odeon cinemas, free games, and thousands of free books, magazines and comics each month.

Alongside this, all 18-22-year-old customers will also benefit from exclusive perks tailored for students and young adults, including discounts on grocery, travel, books, and fashion, such as 10% off at Amazon Fresh and 5% off travel with National Express.

The online giant has offered half-price Prime to students in the UK through Prime Student since 2014, but this offer means it is now available to all 18-22-year-olds, whether in university or not.

Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said: “We’re always looking for ways to provide more value to our customers and offering 18-22-year-olds 50% off Prime membership helps to make the wide range of Prime benefits even more accessible to young people.

“This is a really important time in their lives, so helping them save while enjoying great shopping and entertainment benefits will make a big difference, whether they’re going to university, starting work, or moving out of home for the first time.”

Last week, it was reported the online giant is planning to launch a new discount marketplace with budget-friendly items shipped directly from China as competition with fast-growing discount platforms such as Temu and Shein intensifies.

The new section on Amazon’s platform will spotlight unbranded fashion, home goods and everyday essentials.
