Amazon expands grocery delivery to all customers and launches member prices

Amazon has bolstered its grocery offer by introducing deliveries to all its customers in eligible cities across the UK and launching member pricing.

Customers in more than 100 towns and cities nationwide can now receive groceries delivered by the ecommerce giant from its own Fresh stores, Morrisons, Co-op and Iceland.

Prime members shopping at Amazon Fresh online and in the 20 stores in London and the southeast will also have access to ‘Prime Member Deals’ – a new programme offering hundreds of exclusive promotions and benefits.

The initiative, which launches later this month, will offer as much as 50% off on a rotation of products in store and online each week, alongside an additional 10% off ‘Price Cut’ products in store.

Amazon Fresh international vice president Ganesh Rao said: “Today marks a milestone for us as we extend our grocery deliveries to all Amazon customers, and we are excited for more customers to benefit from our low prices, wide selection, and fast and reliable deliveries.”

Prime members shopping online will see the discounts applied automatically at the checkout stage, while in-store users will need to use the Amazon app or a debit or credit card linked to their Prime account.

The changes come despite the online giant pulling its grocery delivery service in five UK cities following an evaluation of its offerings and operations network.

Amazon’s online Fresh offer is no longer available in Glasgow, Portsmouth, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle.
